Deploy Windows 2022 Server in a VM form factor

 Hi All,

 As you know, Mircosoft launchs the new Windows Server 2022 version. 

Today, i would like to show you how to deploy this Windows 2022 server version in a VM form factor. Windows 2022 also comes with 2 options i.e. Server with Desktop experience (GUI) and Server Core.

Windows 2022 server has 3 Editions like Datacenter, Standard and Essentials.

Download the Windows 2022 server ISO from below Microsoft link.

Minimum hardware requirement for Windows 2022 are as follows:

1.4 GHz 64-bit processor.

2 GB for Server with Desktop Experience installation option.

32 GB Minimum disk space.

1 gigabit per second throughput Network adapter atleast.

Let's start to deploy the Windows 2022 server in a vSphere Environment.

 

Login to vCenter server and create a new VM.


                                                                          

Give a name for VM and select the folder where you want place your new VM.

 

 

 Select host or cluster where this VM will be created.

 

 Select the datastore

 

 Select the compatibility

 

Select the Guest OS. In my case , i am using vSphere 7.0.0 so i have option to select upto Windows 2019 only. May be in 7.0.2 verison, you can get Windows 2022 option to choose.

 

 

Customize the VM hardware as per your requirement like CPU, Memory, Disk, Network adapter, SCSI Controller etc..

 Click on FINISH to create the VM.

 

 New VM will be created, lets power it ON and Launch the Remote console to attach ISO file for installing the OS on this VM.

Boot the VM from ISO file.

 

 

 Click NEXT

 

 

Click On Install now option

 

 Select the Edition which you want to deploy and click Next

 

 Accept the License terms and click Next

 

Select Custom option and click Next and then select the disk and click on Next

 

 

Installation starts now. It will take some time to complete.


 

 

 Once installation completed successful;y, VM will get reboot and comes on Customize settings. Put your Administrator password. Click FINISH.

 

 And it's complete now.
